“O sleep, O gentle sleep,
Nature’s soft nurse, how have I frighted thee,
That thou no more wilt weigh my eyelids down
And steep my sense in forgetfulness?”
-William Shakespeare, Henry IV, Part I
I am pretty sure that this the elegant way of saying, “C’mon Sleep! What the fuck!?”
Hahah! Love the quote and the interpretation. I wish my Shakespear class in high school had translations like that.
P.S. Freaking love the blog name. I laughed out loud on that one and thought of my grandmother.
Haha. I’m sure that your high school class could come up with much more cheeky interpretations than that, if given the opportunity. And good to know that my boobs remind you of your grandmother. = )
Actually my boobs remind me of my grandmother too, and I am only 32. Yikes. = )
Haha! I bet our visuals are totally different when it comes to the saggy part. Unfortunately, my grandmother hasn’t changed her bra style in….ever. I can clearly see that those things are down to her belly button & so can everyone else. -__-
I guess it’s a good thing that I never had big boobs that could sag down THAT far. It is a mystery to me how my almost non-existant boobs can still be saggy though. I guess I’m just lucky!
I’m running on fumes right now and have been for awhile now, so I have recently said the same thing. (YOUR interpretation, not Shakespeare’s)
Thank you for the much needed laugh!
Me too. Between my own insomnia and my daughter’s early-risin’ ways of late, I am not sure how I am still functioning. I guess mothers are proof of how little sleep one actually needs to survive. Hope you get some sleep soon!
Haha….l totally agree with your interpretation. Thanks for the laugh!! Just read your comment above and I have a similar issue with my boobs. I am also 32 and 3 kiddos have not been kind. Just thinking back to all we have been through, breastfeeding 3 kiddos, crappy bras, and then there are the good old days which makes me a little sad, oh the mammaries!!
Oh the mammaries indeed! It’s strange that my boobs are now be nearly non-existant but can still manage to be saggy
Haha..I hear ya!
You rule.
I’m not sure what I’m more impressed with- the fact that you can quote Shakespeare on very little sleep, or the fact that you’re freakin’ hilarious. 🙂
Sleep is such a funny thing. The worst is when your kiddo starts sleeping really well and you get used to it. Then something (teeth, a cold, whatever) brings on a few goofy nights, and you curse yourself for ever getting used to a good night’s sleep.
It’s so true. When my daughter was born, I was prepared for the idea that I would only be sleeping in 2 hr stretches. Then she started sleeping through the night, and I thought for sure she would be sleeping till 10 am and bringing me my coffee by now! No such luck.
